Blog Number 80 - Creature Effects, Inc. to supply FX for '300'

I was able to confirm yesterday that Mark Rappaport's company, Creature Effects, Inc. will be creating the special effects for the Frank Miller, Battle of Thermopylae film '300'. After looking at the pages on the aforementioned website, especially the make-up page, I was amazed at how an actor can be transformed into his/her alter ego.

The metamorphosis of Andrew Tiernan into the character Ephialtes will be the most interesting, especially when you see how he appears in Blog Number 73.

CORRECTION:
The film was done by 300 CREATURE EFFECTS not Creature Effects. CREATURE EFFECTS 300 WAS A LIMITED PARTNERSHIP BETWEEN MARK RAPPAPORT AND SHAUN SMITH.

Neither of the preceding posts regarding "300" are completely accurate. Shaun Smith, who previously worked with director Zack Snyder on "Dawn of the Dead," formed a limited 50/50 partnership with Mark Rappaport to do all makeup and creature effects for "300".
Mark Rappaports's Creature Effects Inc. shop primarily handled mechanical effects, some fabrication, casting of various armor pieces, all dead horses and accounting.
Shaun Smith's "300" extension shop was primarily responsible for sculptures, all dead bodies, makeups, creature suits and subcontracting Canadian shops. There were two main satellite shops, one in Toronto and one in Montreal. Chris Bridges and CJ Goldman were the subcontracted leads, both of whom also worked with Zack and Shaun on "Dawn of the Dead." Scott Wheeler was hired as the dept. head. As King Leonidas' makeup artist he led the way for the full body airbrushing done on all Spartans. Soon the entire team of outstanding and talented artists will be posted on Imdb.com and submitted to Warner Brothers for proper credit. Warner Brothers reserves the right to give credit as they choose.
Hopefully this helps clarify the confusion or misconceptions that other posts may have caused.
